Several years have passed since Moana's voyage to restore the heart of Te Fiti and bring prosperity back to her island. Motunui thrives under her leadership, but Moana finds herself yearning for new adventures beyond the horizon. Meanwhile, a mysterious illness begins to spread across the ocean, affecting marine life and threatening the balance of nature.

Driven by her connection to the ocean and a sense of responsibility to protect it, Moana sets sail once again, accompanied by her loyal friends, Maui, Heihei, and Pua. Their journey leads them to encounter new islands and cultures, as well as old foes who seek to exploit the ocean's power for their own gain.

As they navigate treacherous waters and face formidable challenges, Moana learns more about the ancient art of wayfinding from Maui and discovers the true extent of her own abilities. Along the way, she forms alliances with other ocean guardians and discovers the key to stopping the spread of the illness—a long-forgotten legend about the healing power of the ocean's depths.

But as Moana and her friends race against time to save the ocean and its inhabitants, they must confront their own fears and doubts, including Maui's struggle with his identity and Moana's reluctance to accept her destiny as a leader. In the end, they must rely on each other and the strength of their bond to overcome adversity and restore harmony to the sea.
